Headhunters remain optimistic about the alleged rebound, according to a monthly survey released this morning.

The "Recruiter Confidence Index," a barometer compiled by online networking firm ExecuNet, dipped slightly but stayed near a 12-month high in June.

Half of those surveryed said they were confident or very confident that the job market for executives will improve by year's end.

Roughly a quarter of those surveyed expect a positive change sooner, within three months.

"Recruiters' outlook for the executive employment market during the second half of the year suggests that the bottom of the recession is now in their rearview mirrors," Mark Anderson, President and Chief Economist of ExecuNet, said in a statement.
