NewOak Capital, a New York-based asset management firm, is looking to broaden its capital markets capabilities in the real estate space. Last week, Amy Levenson, a Goldman Sachs veteran, was hired to head the company's newly formed commercial real estate loans and properties capital markets group to create and execute real estate capital market solutions for clients.
NewOak's spokesperson said the firm believes that given the dislocation in the commercial real estate securitization and lending markets, the business represents opportunities to create liquidity. Hiring someone like Levenson who has substantial relationships with the hedge fund community enables the firm to provide such coverage, according to a statement.
The firm also confirmed that it is currently looking for more talent.
