JPMorgan, the second-largest U.S. bank, is planning to expand its retail operations by hiring 1,200 retail bankers and opening 120 branches by the end of 2010, according to Dow Jones Newswires.
As a part of its effort to grow its consumer lending business, the new hires will mainly be branch-based loan officers, according to a slideshow published on the company website ahead of Chairman and CEO Jamie Dimon's presentation (pdf) at the Goldman Sachs Financial Services Conference in New York.
The bank also said it is also looking to build out its commercial banking business and plans to add over 100 middle market bankers over the next several years.
