Citigroup's new head of world-wide consumer-banking operations could be next in line for the bank's top job.
Speculation has been swirling that Manuel Medina-Mora is positioned to succeed CEO Vikram Pandit. Medina-Mora had been chief executive at Citi's Mexican banking company Grupo Financiero Banamex for more than decade.
The 59-year-old Mexican banker may have the management mojo to score big with investors and regulators. Detractors inside the bank said he isn't a team player and doesn't return phone calls and doesn't delegate.
Despite his troubles at the helm, the embattled Pandit reportedly has no plans to step down and has had the job for just over two years.
