Bank of America job applicants will be addressing cover letters to a new head of human resources. The bank today named firm veteran Andrea B. Smith as head of global human resources.
Smith, 42, has had a hand in acquiring and retaining talent and the sticky issue of compensation during most of her two-decade tenure at the bank.
She has served as the senior human resources executive at many of BofA's divisions. She succeeds retiring chief administrative officer J.Steele Alphin.
"In addition to being a strategic adviser to me, the management team and senior executives in every line of business, she also is a leader in creating our culture of diversity and inclusiveness, so vital to building a global team of associates," said Brian T. Moynihan, the bank's new chief executive.
Smith's bump-up is the second recent promotion of a woman to a high-profile role at BofA, following the appointment of Lisa Carnoy, a.k.a the $19 billion woman, to co-head of BofA's global capital markets announced earlier this week.
