Accountants: 'Push Me, Please!'

By laura lorber

Accountants want to move up or move out. And many think they'd be better off somewhere else.

So says a new study from the Mergis Group, a placement firm specializing in finance, accounting and other professionals, part of by staffing firm giant SFN Group Corp., based in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

The majority of accounting and finance professionals surveyed (79%) say they prefer work with the opportunity for growth and advancement, even if it means more stress, according to the study. Less than a third of respondents (27%) are satisifed with the growth potential at their current employer and about as many (32%) think they could improve it if they left.

Companies might want to keep this in mind for when the economy -- and the job market -- rebounds.
