Despite reporting lower profits at the close of its fiscal year in June, big four accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers announced 800 additional graduate finance openings in the U.K. This announcement brings the company's total number of available graduate positions to 2,000.
During its most recent fiscal year, PwC hired 1,750 employees and tacked on 57 new partners. While the company's profits fell 5.6 percent in the year ending June 2010, primarily due to increased salary and investment expenses, it still maintained a £642 million ($990 million) profit.
PwC's UK chairman Ian Powell said that the company is "under no illusion that there remain challenges ahead," but the additional 800 jobs are intended to better its clients' experience in both service and value. The hires will take place over the next 12 months.
