Big Four accounting firm Ernst & Young is bolstering its ranks worldwide, looking to add 6,500 assurance, tax, transactions, and advisory professionals in 2011. This seems to be part of a larger E&Y hiring initiative announced earlier this month by the company.
The hires will be focused in emerging markets like China and India, where 2,000 and 2,500 staff will be added, respectively. The firm also plans to add 1,000 in both Russia and Africa, and has expansion plans for the Middle East, as well. The announcement comes on the heels of new hiring initiatives in the Middle-East and Asia-Pacific regions from E & Y's Big Four competitors, Deloitte and PwC.
