Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company is hiring 100 agents and associate agents to join its offices in Ohio.
The company is recruiting salespeople in three capacities: independent contractors who will put capital into a new business; staff with an option to inject capital into a new business at a later date; and entry-level staff salespeople with less than five years of sales experience who receive training.
"We're looking for people that are sales professionals and entrepreneurs, but we also provide a lot of training," said Liz Christopher. "We help [the in-house staff] build their business over 18 to 24 months by having them as salaried employees and paying their office expenses."
Insurance experience isn't necessary for those who want to work within the agency and don't want to own an agency, said Christopher.
Allstate Also Bringing on More Franchises
Allstate is also seeking new franchisees, according to Will Owens, a senior manager in Allstate's human resources division.
Like Nationwide, Allstate offers to its new franchisees training and resources, including marketing support, help with setting up an office, and training for new hires, he said.
"The added risk is worth it because of the economic interest," said Owens. "If you're successful, you make a lot of money, and you're creating wealth. Potentially, you can sell the agency down the road for a lot more than [it took for] you [to] set it up in the first place."
