Imran Khan will join Credit Suisse as a managing director and head of internet investment banking, the firm announced today in an internal memo.
Khan will start in May and be based in San Francisco. He will report to David Wah, global co-head of technology, media and telecom and Bryce Lee, head of technology banking for the Americas.
Khan joins from JPMorgan, where he served as head of global internet research since 2004. He was the lead equity analyst covering internet and U.S. media stocks including eBay, Yahoo, Amazon and Google. He is the author of "Nothing But 'Net," an internet research report.
The appointment is part of Credit Suisse's attempt to bulk up its technology investment banking team. George Boutros, the former chairman of the technology and health groups in San Francisco, left CS in April 2010 to join Qatalyst Partners, a tech-focused investment bank.
