Jeffrey Farber, 46, has been appointed senior vice president and deputy chief financial officer at AIG, the firm announced today. He is responsible for controllership and accounting policy functions and the global tax department. He is based in New York and reports to David Herzog, executive vice president and chief financial officer. Farber began his duties this week, a spokesperson said.
Farber was most recently an executive vice president of finance and corporate development and the chief financial officer at GAMCO Investors, a Rye, N.Y.-based provider of investment advice and brokerage services to mutual funds and other investors. He joined that firm in July 2008. Prior to that, he worked at Bear Stearns from May 2000 to July 2008. From March 2007 through July 2008, he served as a senior managing director. Before joining Bear Stearns he worked as an audit partner at Deloitte for 14 years.
Farber received his bachelor's degree in accounting from Leigh University and an MBA from NYU.
