New York Life Insurance will hire more than 3,500 new agents in 2011, repeating 2010 hiring plans that saw 3,300 new recruits added to employee headcount.
Hiring will take place in 120 offices across the country and has already commenced, said Mark Pfaff, executive vice president at New York Life.
The insurer is looking for applicants who are entrepreneurial, have good listening skills, good self-discipline and problem-solving abilities. It's also looking for young professionals, recent college grads and agents who will work in specific ethnic communities.
There are currently more than 11,800 licensed agents at the company.
