It's Back to Beer for Pabst Brewing Company's New CMO

By chris prentice

A new chief marketing officer is the most recent in a string of management changes at Pabst Brewing Company, including a new CEO. Bryan Crowley will replace Jon Sayer, the company announced today. Sayer had only been in the role since earlier this year.

Crowley, 38, was most recently vice president of marketing and sales at Mars Food, but he has his roots in the brewing industry. He began his career at Anheuser-Busch and then joined ConAgra Foods before being recruited to Mars.

Crowley's focus will be to revitalize the Pabst brands, according to a statement from the company. He will report to chief executive officer John Cochran, who joined Pabst in March from Fiji Water Company where he was president and COO.

The Pabst brands have "deep roots in American culture and such immense growth opportunity," Crowley said in the statement. Those brands include Pabst Blue Ribbon, Colt 45 and Ballentine.

The privately-held brewer has an "aggressive" growth plan to build its brands, according to the statement. Pabst will build a marketing team in Los Angeles, a company spokesperson said. The company is moving its headquarters there from Woodridge, Ill.
