Online education company 2tor will hire up to 150 new employees this year as it expands its partnerships with universities.
The company announced this morning it has raised $26 million from WSI Investments, an affiliate of the Hillman Company, Bessemer Venture Partners, Highland Capital and others. Based in Landover, Md., the company has 377 employees, including about 20 interns.
2tor has partnered with the University of Southern California and Georgetown University to offer online degrees, and it recently agreed to offer a master's in public administration at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill School of Government. Chief Executive Chip Paucek said that the company will use the new capital to build online degree programs with new partners.
The company plans to hire across the board, from operations to engineering, Paucek said. On the technical side, the company wants developers conversant in PHP, PHP, Python, Ruby, C/C++, Java, Javascript, HTML, CSS, and SQL, said Director of Human Resources Erin Anderson.
Paucek declined to discuss the company's revenues and said its compensation is competitive.
"We look for people who can transform the business," Paucek said.
