Tip: Companies On the Lookout for Compliance Officers

Financial service firms have many looming deadlines ahead of them, like registering with the Securities and Exchange Commission. To meet them, they need to hire qualified compliance officers. Over the past two months, more than 300 companies have posted 1,200 jobs for compliance staff, up 49% from the year earlier for the same period. Demand is highest in New York, Dallas and Chicago.

Tip: Nomura Hunts for Top Students

Japanese bank Nomura may be undergoing a slight shift in strategy after the departure of wholesale banking head Jesse Bhattal, but it's still worth looking into if you're a college graduate. In order to best its rivals in finding top talent, Nomura's university recruiting program will triple the typical salary for an incoming analyst. So far, the bank has hired 50 graduates for the program. Don't get too complacent, though, you're expected to show up to work the day after the academic year ends in Japan!
