Tip: Morgan Stanley Invests in Indonesia
Morgan Stanley just bought a brokerage seat in Indonesia, which means it will be able to trade securities and offer research. To do that, the office will need to hire salespeople, traders and research staff over the next several months. The country is a priority for Morgan Stanley Chief Executive James Gorman, and the firm is setting itself up as a competitor to firms already established in the region, such as Nomura, Citigroup, Credit Suisse and Deutsche Bank.

Tip: Retooling the Asia Outlook
There are opportunities in Asia if you know where to look. Firms are likely to build up their financial services staff in retail operations and Chinese currency-related businesses, even as multinational corporations such as HSBC and RBS shed employees. The rise of the local banks in China, Hong Kong and India bodes well for aspiring financiers in the Asia-Pacific region. There are also opportunities in wealth management, corporate finance and asset management.
