Thought Equity Motion will hire up to 40 people over the next year after raising $25 million in new financing last month from private equity firm Shamrock Capital Advisors.
The Denver, Co. company provides a cloud based platform for entertainment and content companies to archive, store and manage their video libraries. For instance, the company recently helped the National Collegiate Athletic Association make hundreds of their old basketball tournament games available for streaming online.
About half of the company's new hires will be for technical roles including Web operations and infrastructure, database administrators and developers conversant in Flex, HTML, Java and PHP. Because the company also helps firms make their videos searchable and create metadata, candidates with expertise in storage and open-source technologies are preferred.
The other 20 positions will be for sales, account management, and business development.
The company is especially interested in candidates who can innovate in using streaming video on the Web and smartphones to create new entertainment experiences.
"There's a lot of opportunity here to be creative in thinking about connecting sports and entertainment to technology tools and metadata," said Dan Weiner, vice president of marketing and products.
Founded in 2003, the company currently has 150 employees. Weiner said that cash compensation is competitive, and that equity is available for some positions. The company declined to discuss revenues.
