Overview
Dallas-based Comerica Inc. is a holding company with three business segments. Its business-bank division caters to the middle market with commercial real-estate services, national dealer services, lending, international finance and financial services. The retail-bank segment includes small-business banking and personal financial services, such as consumer lending, deposits and mortgages. A wealth and institutional management division offers fiduciary services, private banking, investment management and advisory services, investment banking and discount securities brokerage services. Comerica Bank is a regional bank with its biggest presence in Michigan and branches in California and Florida.
Comerica owns the naming rights to Major League Baseball stadium Comerica Park, home to the Detroit Tigers. The company moved its headquarters from Detroit to Dallas in 2007 to be located in a more central location in the U.S. Subsidiary Comerica Bank has locations in Arizona, California, Florida, Michigan and Texas. It also has businesses operating in several other states and Canada, China and Mexico.
Comerica collected $2.25 billion in TARP money in 2008. Comerica Bank recently sold its defined-contribution-plan recordkeeping business to Wells Fargo & Co. subsidiary, Wachovia Bank.
