Virtus Investment Partners Inc. is an asset-management company. The company administers 60 mutual funds and is a multimanager asset manager with a number of individual affiliated managers, each having its own investment style, autonomous investment process and brand. Virtus provides institutional asset-management services to pension funds, endowments, foundations, and insurance companies. The company markets wrap-fee programs, closed-end funds, and managed-account services to wealthy clients. The Hartford, Conn.-based company has offices in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
The Phoenix Cos. Inc. spun off Virtus Investment Partners 2008. The name Virtus is from Latin meaning integrity, quality and strength.

Virtus sponsors a charity organization for special-needs children called Bossy’s Bunch, which Virtus chief alternatives strategist Joe Terranova started with hockey player Mike Bossy. The program sends more than 50 underprivileged and challenged children to each New York Islanders home game.
