Overview
XL Capital Ltd. is a provider of global insurance and reinsurance
services for industrial, commercial and professional-service firms, and insurance companies. The Bermuda-based
company specializes in general and executive liability, property, and political risk insurance. Its
reinsurance business covers property, aviation, energy, nuclear accident, and professional indemnity. XL
Capital expanded its reinsurance business to include Europe in 2006 and opened branch offices in France and
the U.K.
Security Capital Assurance, now called Syncora Holdings, is XL's former subsidiary.
Syncora is the parent company of Syncora Guarantee Inc., a bond insurer that provides
financial guarantee insurance on the debts of insurance companies.
