Stifel Financial Corp. is a full-service regional brokerage and investment bank based in St. Louis, Mo. The Company provides securities brokerage, investment banking, trading, investment advisory, and related financial services to individual investors, money managers, businesses, and municipalities. The company was founded in 1890.
Its subsidiaries include retail and institutional brokerage and investment bank Stifel Nicolaus & Co., independent contractor broker-dealer Century Securities Associates Inc., international subsidiary Stifel Nicolaus Ltd., and retail and commercial bank Stifel Bank & Trust. In 2005, the company acquired Legg Mason Capital Markets and in 2007 added Ryan Beck & Co. In 2010, it added Thomas Weisel Partners Group Inc. and about 50 key executive from the firm are expected to stay in place.
Recruiting
Stifel is set to grow its 2,00-strong brokerage force to 4,000 to 6,000 advisors. The company is hiring across the board, adding client-service associates, trading specialists, and product support staff to assist brokers in setting up their businesses at the firm.
