Headquartered in Lititz, Pa., Susquehanna Bancshares Inc. is a financial holding company that provides retail and commercial banking and a range of financial services through its subsidiaries in the mid-Atlantic region. In addition to its commercial bank arm, the company operates a trust company, an asset management company, a property and casualty insurance brokerage company and a vehicle-leasing subsidiary.
In 2008, two of Susquehanna’s subsidiaries, Susquehanna Bank and Susquehanna Bank DV were merged into Susquehanna Bank PA, which subsequently changed its name to Susquehanna Bank.
Like many banking companies, Susquehanna has felt the effects of the economic crisis. The company announced recently that it would close 14 bank branches in Pennsylvania.
