Texas Life Insurance Co., headquartered in Waco, Texas, is the oldest life insurance company domiciled in Texas. The company specializes in selling permanent life insurance policies to individuals in the workplace. Texas Life’s main market is public schools. It conducts business in 49 states and the District of Columbia.
Until recently Texas Life was a subsidiary of insurance giant MetLife Inc. which acquired it in 1988. Connecticut’s Wilton Re Holdings, which specializes in reinsurance services, recently agreed to acquire Texas Life. Texas Life continues to provide policies for MetLife representatives to sell. It has retained its brand and remains headquartered in Waco. Staff was not trimmed following the acquisition.
