The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) is the largest options exchange in the world. It's also the last independent exchange and the most innovative. CBOE’s hybrid trading system incorporates electronic and open outcry trading. The exchange offers equity, index and ETF options, including proprietary products, such as S&P 500 options and the CBOE Volatility Index. CBOE also runs the options education platform the Options Institute.
The member-owned exchange was founded in 1973. The CBOE's initial public offering this year is expected to be one of the year's hottest IPOs. CEO Bill Brodsky is expected to eventually take a high-level job in Washington, D.C.
