Morgan Stanley Real Estate is a unit of investment bank Morgan Stanley. It focuses on real estate investment banking, real estate investing and real estate lending. Products and services include mergers and acquisitions, restructuring and recapitalization advisory, public and private debt and equity underwriting, mortgage financing and investment management. Headquartered in New York, the unit has nearly 450 professionals in 18 offices worldwide in the Americas, Europe, Asia and Middle East.
The unit was established in 1969 and many of its senior managers have spent their entire careers there, according to the company. Its Asian real-estate operations were recently reorganized after an employee was terminated amid an investigation for possible violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, according to The Wall Street Journal. The act makes it a crime for U.S. companies to pay bribes or kickbacks abroad.
