Soros Fund Management LLC is an investment firm founded by billionaire investor and philanthropist George Soros. The firm advises the legendary Quantum Fund, one of the first hedge funds in the U.S. Soros ranked No. 5 on Forbes's 2009 Billionaires list and No. 5 on Alpha magazine's list of the highest-earning hedge-fund managers in 2008, taking home $1.1 billion.
Soros may be best known as "the man who broke the Bank of England" for betting against the pound in 1992. Soros, a Hungarian refugee, has spent heavily to promote democracy and liberal causes.
