FBL Financial Group Inc. is a holding company for Farm Bureau Life Insurance Co. and EquiTrust Life Insurance Co. The Iowa-based company underwrites, markets and distributes life insurance, annuities and mutual funds to individuals and small businesses. It sells individual life and annuity products principally under the consumer brands of Farm Bureau Financial Services and EquiTrust Financial Services.
The company has its roots in serving members of the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation, which is still among its stakeholders, owning its Series B preferred stock. But the company serves a wide population, including rural, urban and suburban customers, most in the Midwest. Among the company's strengths is its extensive distribution network. Farm Bureau Life has 1,962 exclusive agents and agency managers.
