Assurant Inc. is a specialty insurance company based in New York. It provides creditor-placed homeowners insurance, manufactured housing homeowners insurance, debt protection administration, credit insurance, warranties and extended service contracts, individual health and small employer group health insurance, group dental insurance, group disability insurance, group life insurance and pre-funded funeral insurance.
Assurant was spun out of its former parent company, Fortis Inc., in 2004. The company likes to say that in building and growing specialty businesses, it's focused on “the next," serving markets that it understands intimately and of which it already has a significant market share.
