MFA Financial Inc. is a New York City-based real estate investment trust investing primarily on a leveraged basis in mortgage-backed securities. Most of its assets are from or backed by Government National Mortgage Association or Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corp.

Executive vice president and chief financial officer William Gorin was named president, succeeding Stewart Zimmerman, who remains chairman and chief executive officer. Executive vice president Ronald Freydberg was named chief investment officer, a newly created position. He had been chief portfolio officer.
