The Travelers Cos. Inc. is a holding company for a range of businesses providing commercial and personal property and casualty insurance products and services to businesses, government units, associations and individuals, distributed through independent insurance agents and brokers. The company recently took a hit from record disaster costs following the 2009 storms on the U.S. East Coast and the earthquake in Chile.
