BMO Capital Markets is the North American investment and corporate banking division of Canada's BMO Financial Group, parent of the Bank of Montreal. It offers equity and debt underwriting, corporate lending and project financing, merger and acquisitions advisory services, merchant banking, securitization, treasury and market risk management, debt and equity research and institutional sales and trading. It has 26 locations, including 14 in North America.
The investment bank has been expanding its staff of analysts in the consumer and metals & mining sectors and growing its U.S. public finance business. The company acquired Chicago-based Griffin, Kubik, Stephens & Thompson, becoming the largest qualified municipal bond dealer in Illinois. BMO Capital Markets was launched in 2006, with the merging of the group's Canadian, U.S. and international wholesale banking operations.
