ACE Ltd. is the Zurich-based holding company of the ACE Group, one of the world's largest providers of insurance and reinsurance. The company offers insurance products covering property and casualty, accident and health, reinsurance, travel, creditor, and life insurance. It also offers services on a variety of protection and hazard topics, including process management, unusual hazards identification and expected loss calculations, and engineering services.
In its 2009 annual ranking of chief executives, Institutional Investor magazine named chief executive Evan Greenberg as one of the top CEOs in America. Additionally, ACE was named one of the best big companies by Forbes magazine in 2008.
ACE Ltd. recently acquired the high-net-worth personal lines of The Atlantic Cos. and the accident and health business of Combined Insurance Company of America. There has also been speculation that the insurer could pick up business from the troubled American International Group Inc. with which it competes for some of the largest insurance policies in the world.
