Arch Capital Group Ltd. writes insurance and reinsurance on a worldwide basis with a focus on specialty lines of business. Its coverage areas include accident and health; aviation, casualty and catastrophic coverages; commercial transportation; construction liability; environmental liability; non-standard auto; property; and worker's compensation insurance. The Bermuda-based company conducts operations in Bermuda, the U.S., Europe and Canada.
Arch Capital and Gulf Investment Corp., a Dubai specialist reinsurer, recently entered into a joint venture agreement to establish Gulf Re, a new specialist reinsurer to be based in the Dubai International Financial Center. Gulf Re will initially target high-value oil and gas, industrial, utility and transportation assets in the six member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council which include Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
Constantine Iordanou has been president and chief executive officer of Arch Capital since 2003 and a director since 2002. Iordanou, who has an aerospace engineering degree from New York University, had been an executive at Zurich Financial Services and Berkshire Hathaway Inc., as well as an American International Group Inc..

Each year, Arch Insurance Group holds a two-week underwriter basic-training program, introducing trainees to Arch’s executive management team, business and support division heads. Underwriter trainees ideally have a college degree in business, finance, or risk management.
