Fidelity National Financial Inc. is one of the largest companies providing back-office technology services to the banking industry including credit-card processing and auto-loan services. The company is the largest title insurer in the U.S. The Jacksonville, Fla.-based company also provides flood insurance, personal lines insurance and home warranty insurance through its specialty insurance business and offers claims management services and information services. Its subsidiary Sedgwick CMS provides outsourced claims management services to large corporate and public sector entities. It also provides information services in the human resource, retail and transportation markets through another subsidiary, Ceridian Corp.
In 2009, the company acquired rival LandAmerica Financial Group Inc. and its two principal title insurance underwriters, Commonwealth Land Title Insurance Co. and Lawyers Title Insurance Corp., as well as United Capital Title Insurance Co. An effort to takeover the company by a consortium led by the The Blackstone Group failed, and Fidelity is said to be considering a leveraged buyout.
