Overview
Eaton Vance Corp. is a Boston-based money manager, offering investment funds and investment management and counseling services to high-net-worth individuals and institutions. The 13th largest manager of long-term funds in the U.S., it's best known for its tax-managed strategies, including municipal-bond funds, banks loans, and closed-end funds. Its tagline once was "Mutual Funds for People Who Pay Taxes," but the company has moved beyond this niche. Other areas that have gained importance include value equities, equity income, emerging market equities, high yields, and managed accounts.
The company has an old-fashioned, stable culture. And as it has grown, it has sought to retain a small-company feel. The place prides itself on its low turnover and has a reputation for being an investment-centric company and for keeping good managers in place. Long-time equity manager Thomas E. Faust Jr. is now CEO.
