Allstate Corp., the largest publicly held personal lines insurer in the U.S., is the holding company for Allstate Insurance Co. Its businesses include auto, property, life and commercial insurance, retirement and investment products, and banking services. Its products and services are distributed through Allstate agencies, independent agencies, financial institutions and broker-dealers to individual, institutional and worksite customers.
You may know its slogan "You’re In Good Hands With Allstate." You may not know that it was founded as part of Sears & Roebuck in 1931. Hockey fans may be familiar with the Allstate Arena, home to the Chicago Wolves hockey team, in Rosemont, Ill., near the Chicago's O'Hare International Airport. The company made news in 2008 when its performance was hit by the two costliest hurricanes in U.S. history, Ike and Gustav, as well as the credit crunch tsunami.
