Macquarie's business is structured into six operating groups and four service groups.

Macquarie Compliance is a division within Macquarie's Risk Management Group that provides compliance support and advice to Macquarie's operating businesses, assisting them globally to manage their compliance risks.

The Compliance division has an opportunity for a AML and Sanctions Compliance Senior Manager to join the team in either Toronto or New York and report directly to the Americas AML & Sanctions Director (who is based in New York).

Americas AML & Economic Sanctions Compliance

The AML & Economic Sanctions Compliance team sits within RMG Compliance and directly supports Macquarie's AML and sanctions compliance activities in the Americas region.

This role will primarily support all of the Macquarie businesses operating in Canada. This includes: Macquarie Private Wealth Management Inc. (MPWI), Macquarie Private Wealth Management Corp. (MPWC), Macquarie Capital Markets Canada Ltd. (MCMCL), Macquarie Capital Markets North America (MCMNA), Macquarie Financial Ltd (MFL), and Macquarie Global Investments Canada (MGI).

You will be responsible for:
  • Strategic and tactical AML and sanctions compliance support to relevant businesses (e.g., enhancing compliance framework, providing guidance in resolving compliance and audit issues).
  • Completion of periodic business unit risk assessments.
  • Development, implementation and updating of country-wide and reporting entity policies and procedures for jurisdictional-specific requirements.
  • Development and delivery of an ongoing AML and sanctions employee training program (e.g., new starter, annual refresher, and supplemental / roles-based).
  • Routine and ad-hoc compliance reporting (e.g., high-risk accounts, SARs/STRs filed, number of PEP relationships, number of sanctions matches).
  • Development and execution of an annual compliance testing or quality assurance (QA) plan.
  • Advice on all AML, sanctions, and other financial crime-related matters.
  • Participate on global or enterprise-wide AML and sanctions risk management initiatives.

To be successful in this role you will have:
  • 8-10 years of experience in the AML and sanctions subject matter.
  • Robust understanding of Canadian AML/ATF regulations and economic sanctions requirements.
  • Familiarity and experience with US AML and sanctions requirements is also preferable.
  • Experience in managing money laundering risk within private wealth management businesses, institutional businesses, and trading / investment banking products.
  • Experience in dealing with regulatory authorities (preferably US and Canadian).
