The Associate Analyst 2 provides technical support and research assistance to the Credit Policy Research team which develops quantitative tools to support ratings and analysis, performs validation of rating methodologies and verification of rating models, and conducts research on defaults, loss-given-default, rating transitions, and ratings performance.

The Associate Analyst 2 is also responsible for:

* Assist in conducting quantitative default and recovery research for structured finance securities, including ABS, RMBS, CMBS, and CDOs.

* Review and interpret trustee reports, and perform cash-flow analysis on structured finance transactions for all sectors.

* Add to and maintain a complex database of structured finance payment/loss information and models to project loss-given default.

* Utilize SQL, Excel, and MATLAB to query and manipulate large data sets of ratings and deal performance data and to conduct statistical data analysis.

* Prepare regular reports and presentations concerning structured finance ratings performance. Respond to internal and external data requests.

* Master's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, or other quantitative field.

* Must have2+years of work experience, preferably in a financial field.

* Knowledge of financial concepts, economics, and statistics required and practical experience in structured finance strongly preferred.

* Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and have experience with database programs (SQL), statistical packages (MATLAB), and programming languages.

* Excellent organizational and analytical skills and attention to detail. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.

* Team player with the ability to work independently and function in a support role.

The Credit Policy Research team develops quantitative tools to support ratings and analysis, performs validation of rating methodologies and verification of rating models, and conducts research on defaults, loss-given-default, rating transitions, and ratings performance.

MIS and MSS Candidates are asked to disclose securities holdings pursuant to Moody's Policy for Securities Trading. Employment is contingent upon compliance with the Policy, including remediation of positions in those holdings as necessary.
