SaltHill Group Inc is a professional recruiting firm specializing in the energy and energy trading industries. Our clients cover oil, gas and power companies, as well as hedge funds and investment banks across many major US cities (New York metro area, Chicago, and Houston). We are sourcing for two roles focused on natural gas fundamentals in the NY metro area. The roles are commercial and important positions as they are expected to be the SME and source for each company's view of the North American Natural gas markets.

Position #1 is a Front-Office Gas Strategist and modeler who will be charged with conceiving and developing research tools used by traders and other front-office individuals in analyzing the gas markets for trade opportunities. Key ongoing responsibilities include fundamental research and analysis using supply and demand models, monitoring market developments, enhancing existing models, creating new models, and providing daily market analysis and reporting with a commercial bent toward aiding in trade decisions in the NYMEX or Basis markets. The target candidate will have an expertise in the North American Gas markets and will be a SME in the NYMEX or Basis gas markets; will have a strong knowledge of the physical pipeline infrastructure; strong modeling and technology; 5+ years experience conceptualizing and executing fundamental models from scratch; and an advanced educational background in engineering or a quantitative discipline (preferred).

Position #2 is a Senior Gas Fundamental Analyst whose primary focus is to provide an internal point-of-view of the North American natural gas markets for executive management, the commercial team including the gas traders, structurers, and investors. Key responsibilities include to track the fundamental market drivers in the North American gas (90% focus) and oil markets (10% focus), develop short-term and long-term price forecasts including an analysis of key price movements, prepare weekly reports on views, drivers and price forecasts in the natural gas markets for review with the executives and commercial team, work with commercial structuring and development team on transactions that have a gas component, collaborate with the supply and speculative traders on the risk and reward of trade strategies using both fundamental and technical analysis, and research other related topics including environmental issues and policies, renewables, nuclear power, LNG, unconventional gas production, and impact of weather events on the natural gas supply. Professional requirements include an undergraduate degree in a numerate discipline, 5+ years experience in fundamental natural gas research and analytics; strong modeling skills; in-depth understanding of the supply & demand drivers of the natural gas markets and other dynamics; and strong verbal and written communication skills.
