Senior Plan Reporting Analyst

To ensure the best interest of Institutional Client Services clients and in accordance with plan documents and legal requirements, the incumbent serves as a plan reporting analyst on the TIAA-CREF Reporting and Compliance Team. This position requires a thorough knowledge of Plan Financial Reporting, Form 5500 Reporting, and ERISA Reporting. In order to provide the highest level of service this person must stay current with appropriate legislation and industry trends. Areas of focus include:

• Discuss any compliance escalation issues with relationship managers and clients on conference calls to resolve any procedures questions, tax reporting issues and regulation changes

• Prepare monthly quarterly and annual reporting packages (to support plan sponsors, and plan audits) for client retirement plans while adhering to established timeframes.

• Work with internal partners and clients to gather necessary data and conduct issue resolution

• Participate in and/or lead departmental projects/initiatives

• Develop and implement procedures for growing business unit

• Manage large, complex reporting assignments, conduct research, question assets included versus plan document requirements, prepare audit reports, etc.

• Prepare reporting packages and deliver to clients in an accurate and timely manner

• Prepare annual DOL / IRS filings, such as Form 5500 filings

• Respond to client inquiries around reporting packages and plan audits e.g., DOL, IRS & annual plan financial statement audit

• Investigate and clear any data or report exceptions identified in the EDW / Reporting System

• Generate journal entries requiring judgment and analysis

• Prepare reporting footnotes or transaction reclassifications, as needed. Thoroughly document research and create work papers related to journal entries and footnotes.

• Identify and resolve reporting issues efficiently and effectively

• Ensure accurate internal and external reporting, including open communications with auditors on related inquiries

• Assist in the completion of research related to year end plan audits
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Finance, Accounting, or Benefits Administration; Masters degree preferred
• 8-11 years working for a defined contribution retirement plan service provider in plan administration

• Understanding of reporting and compliance requirements of ERISA, IRS, DOL, and SEC laws and regulations with respect to qualified and non-qualified retirement plans

• Working knowledge of retirement recordkeeping platforms

• OMNI Plus experience required

• PowerImage experience required

• Experience working in a team environment with proven client relationship and communication skills

• Ability to apply relationship management, project management, record keeping and regulatory concepts and methodologies

• Strong understanding of pension and ERISA regulations as it relates to defined contribution plans, as well as other regulations including NASD, SEC, IRS and DOL

• Strong analytical skills applied to business and financial data

• Highly organized and achievement oriented

• Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks in a dynamic environment

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Exceptional PC and spreadsheet skills
