Job Description


Reporting to the Managing Partner, you will provide leadership and direction in the firm's accounting, tax, compliance, portfolio management and financial control activities (both centralized control and fund accounting).

Prostar Capital is an international private equity firm that focuses on investments in the infrastructure, energy and natural resource sectors. The investment team comprises a group of senior professionals with industry and technical backgrounds who have worked together for a number of years and have significant international investment experience. Prostar Capital operates in offices in Singapore, Greenwich and Sydney. Prostar Capital has raised initial capital commitments of $300 million from a group of strategic investors to establish two global closed-end pooled funds: one focused on energy and energy infrastructure, and the other on natural resources. The investment team is currently looking at a strong pipeline of investment opportunities in the infrastructure and natural resource sectors and expects to make its first investments soon.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Operations and Administration:

Oversee the financial operations of subsidiary companies and all foreign operations. Manage third parties to which functions have been outsourced. Oversee employee benefit plans and policies. Overseeing accounts payable preparation, processing and filing, and expense and credit card processing for the firm.

Financial and Investment Reporting:

Coordinating financial, management and tax reporting. Responsible for in-house valuation and ensuring that investments report according to firm standards.

Accounting and Auditing:

Responsible for coordinating with the accountants and auditors engaged by the firm and the funds advised by the firm. Monitoring cash balances and cash forecasts. Overseeing the issuance of financial information and all purchasing and payroll activities for staff.

?Investor Reporting:

Responsible for coordinating with the external (third party) fund administrators the investor reporting, distribution and capital calls, including distribution planning, for the investors in the funds.

Compliance:

Serving as chief compliance officer for the Prostar Group and responsible for ensuring compliance to the highest standards with the firm's regulatory obligations, particularly in the US and Australia. Liaising with key regulators of the Prostar Group including the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC).

Portfolio & Risk Management:

Responsible for understanding and mitigating key elements of the risk profile of the firm and the funds advised by the firm. Constructing and monitoring reliable control systems.

Corporate Governance:

Serving as company secretary of the board of directors of the firm and responsible for preparing for, attending and documenting meetings of the board of the firm. Responsible for company and fund filing and record keeping and maintenance of operational contracts including liaising with third party providers.

Team Management:

Working on the establishment of Prostar Capital's funds management platform. In connection with the expansion of investment and non-investment activities of the firm, assisting in the building, development and management of a specialized team including hiring, leading, mentoring and managing such non-investment professionals (portfolio management, legal, compliance etc.).

CANDIDATE KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

Ideal Experience
  • ?Minimum of ten to fifteen years of work experience post-University including ideally significant periods in infrastructure, energy, natural resources or other asset backed private equity funds management at leading institutions. ?
  • Background may also include periods in corporate private equity or corporate banking including leveraged finance, and/or as an accountant in public practice.
  • Significant managerial or supervisory experience (minimum five years) in the financial services industry.
  • It is essential that the person be of good fame and character.
  • ?Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) with a strong academic record.
  • ?Post-graduate finance degree and/or chartered accountant/certified public accountant or chartered financial analyst qualification (or equivalent) welcome but not required.
  • Demonstrated affiliations, relationships, network and connectedness within the funds management industry.
