CalPERS seeks an Investment Officer III (IO III) to work under the general direction of the Senior Portfolio Manager (SPM) and Portfolio Manager (PM) of Private Equity (PE). The IO III assigned to the position identified above demonstrates the CalPERS Core Values (Quality, Respect, Integrity, Openness, Accountability, and Balance), works well as a member of a team, and takes initiative in effectively performing the following functions:
Duties include but are not limited to:
• Sources, negotiates, and closes investments that satisfy the PE program's investment strategy
• Coordinate the activities of IO II, IO I and other CalPERS staff critical to the evaluation and execution of new investments
• Works with the Research, Analytics and Performance (RAP) area and the Investment Management Group (IMG) to generate investment ideas that feed PE's planning processes
Minimum Requirements and Experience:
• Equivalent to graduation from college preferably with major work in business administration, economics, finance, mathematics, or a closely related field.
• Five years of increasingly responsible investment analysis experience for a public agency or private financial institution, insurance company, pension fund, endowment fund, investment firm, real estate development and investment firm, or private corporation or entity having a major investment management program
Desirable Qualifications:
• Working towards a professional certification such as a CPA, CFA, MFE, ASA/FSA
• Detail-oriented
• Experience using Microsoft products, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• Ability to work independently and under short time constraints
• Knowledge, skill and experience researching, analyzing, and reporting
• Effective writing skills
• Team-oriented, excellent communication skills
• Demonstrated flexibility, dependability, and adaptability to a changing work environment
