Job Description

Primary responsibilities for this job include preparing and coordinating the monthly financial close for investments and derivatives on all legal entities and assisting in gathering the information required for quarterly disclosure requirements for quarterly SEC filings.

Responsibilities:

Complete monthly consolidation analysis for all legal entity long-term investments
Prepare, journalize and proof monthly activity for all corporate investments including sponsored retail mutual funds, separately managed accounts, majority owned sponsored products, investments in limited partnerships, collateralized debt obligations ("CDO's")
Prepare, journalize and proof monthly activity for all corporate derivative instruments
Prepare the calculation and roll-forward of minority interest related to majority owned sponsored products
Prepare roll-forward of long-term investments in limited partnerships and other equity method investments
Prepare quarterly impairment analysis for all investments (including CDO's)
Prepare supporting documentation for quarterly and annual disclosure requirements related to investments, fair value and derivatives for the Company's regulatory filings
Provide tax schedules and support for the tax department as required
Assist in providing support during the interim and year-end audits (internal and external).

Responsible for compliance with Sarbanes Oxley 404 internal controls, process flow, identifying risk and controls, and monthly/quarterly certifications.
Develop and initiate projects to improve accounting, reporting, and analysis to ensure that these functions are performed efficiently, clear audit trails are maintained and that policies and procedures are developed, maintained and adhered to.
Assume additional responsibilities and/or projects as requested.

Education and experience:

Previous experience with investment and derivative accounting and/or fund accounting required. Experience with equity method accounting and consolidated funds a plus.
Undergraduate degree in accounting required with 3-5 years related experience, or an MBA plus 2-3 years experience. Progress towards Master's degree or CPA license preferred.
Strong computer skills (notably Excel and Access) a necessity.
Experience using SAP and/or Hyperion Essbase a plus.
Solid understanding of internal controls and process flows required.
Strong communication (verbal and written), organizational, and analytical skills required.
Ability to work independently on various projects to achieve desired results.
Ability to work beyond normal working hours required.
