The AVP - Credit Analysis within MCA will be responsible for an industry portfolio, and for delivering research reports on companies within that portfolio. MCA reports include credit drivers and mitigants, business profile, peer analysis, corporate governance indicators, government support (if any) and a discussion of other factors that may be relevant to the credit story and are of interest to our target audience. The AVP - Credit Analysis will work closely with our KPO partners on research, data analysis, and assessing companies through appropriate assessment framework, take ownership of the reports and deliver high quality reports that are the hallmark of Moody's. The preferred location of the position is NYC but an ideal candidate may have an opportunity to work in India, Hong Kong of Beijing if so desired.

Key Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Manage a portfolio of companies within an assigned group of industries
  • Interact with our production management group to identify companies in various regions on which research can be published. Work closely with AVP - Product Management to ensure that the production process maintains its release schedule by ensuring the assessment frameworks are readily available and the spread data is accurate and timely
  • Use MCA scorecards to score companies and develop a qualitative view of the company. Develop a framework of analysis for each industry
  • Work with our KPO partners to deliver research reports consistent with the highest quality standards set by Moody's on select companies and ensure that the assessment framework continues to produce assessments graded in proper relative risk ordering.
  • Work with our KPO partners to monitor companies in his/her portfolio for material credit events and write research notes on a timely basis to reflect the impact of such events on our assessment of the companies
  • Develop a research agenda and publish commentary to strengthen the analytical foundation of our research reports across his/her portfolio
  • Develop a broad understanding of Moody's methodologies and ensure consistency across the credit assessment platform and its various credit assessment components for industries.


  • Five to ten years of previous relevant experience with a credit rating firm, commercial bank, investment bank, risk consultancy, or national financial regulator. Prior experience in credit risk analysis as lender and/or credit risk management a plus. Experience in credit analysis with deep understanding of the industries and credit markets in Asia, EMEA or Latin American countries is required
  • Demonstrated understanding of debt instruments, lending and underwriting processes, and credit risk measurement
  • Demonstrable record of writing analytical research/financial research
  • An MBA or equivalent degree from an internationally recognized institution; Ph.D., CFA, or CPA a plus. Advanced academic studies in finance, accounting, economics, or statistics with demonstrated comfort with quantitative disciplines
  • Knowledge of full breadth of public data, research, and analytic resources
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of technical Mandarin, Cantonese or Korean is a definite plus
  • A team player who must show the willingness to work with cross functional teams across many time zones.


Moody' CreditAssessment, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Moody's Investors Service, seeks an exceptional and experienced individual to join the team as an AVP - Credit Analysis. Moody's CreditAssessment (MCA) was launched in the Fall of 2012 with a focus on offering credit research coverage for global emerging market companies not rated by MIS. MCA's goal is to offer an objective, analytically derived credit assessment for companies that reflect their relative credit risk based only on publicly available information. The group's credit analysts work closely with our KPO partners to deliver this world class research reports. We expect the current product coverage of about 100 companies to increase to 1,200+ companies worldwide by 2016.
