Job Description


The Institute of International Finance (IIF) is the world's largest global association of financial institutions with over 450 members in more than 70 countries. We act as a forum for exchanging views on global regulatory issues and represent our members from the private financial community in discussions with the public sector on global financial policy issues.

The IIF's Regulatory Affairs Department focuses on the development and articulation of industry perspectives on numerous global financial regulatory issues, including: Basel III, systemic risk, securities and insurance regulation, supervision, international accounting, and industry practices in the areas of risk management and governance. We are currently seeking an experienced Policy Advisor to conduct analysis of these matters and manage related projects.

The responsibilities of the Policy Advisor position will include: conducting the analysis of new international regulatory initiatives by groups such as the G20, the Financial Stability Board, the Basel Committee, IOSCO, the IAIS, the European Commission; carrying out research and analysis to support the development of global industry positions on a wide range of challenging regulatory issues; developing position papers, response documents and other analytical pieces; managing the work of a range of high-level industry committees and working groups, including the development of agendas and briefing documents; and engage in dialogue with international policy makers on behalf of IIF members.

Successful candidates must be strongly motivated, highly articulate, exercise effective judgment and have strong analytical abilities. S/he will likely have a graduate degree in finance, risk, law, economics, international studies or another relevant discipline from a leading university (or the equivalent in experience). At least seven years of professional experience in the financial sector or a trade association or experience in a related field are required. Knowledge of financial derivatives and their regulation would be advantageous. S/he must be fluent in English and have excellent oral and written communication skills.
