Job Description

The successful candidate will be involved in building server-side applications that encapsulate the storage, processing, dissemination and business logic related to the Analytics contents. As such you will have a unique opportunity to manipulate diversified and large contents sets, to develop service-oriented architectures for building truly decoupled distributed systems and to build distributed applications for large-scale data-intensive applications.

Essential Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

Design, Deploy and Maintain a cluster of very large databases, constantly tune the database for optimal throughput/delay performance to achieve millisecond-range response times for most analytics requests and work closely with the UNIX and storage engineers to provide hardware and os-level and storage recommendations.

Qualification:

Education: BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience

Required Skills

Proven professional database administration experience, including at least 5 years in large-scale UNIX environment
Experience with lage data sets, data warehousing and business intelligence techniques
Deep knowledge of entity modeling
Deep knowledge of query engines
Deep knowledge of clustering, replication and H/A techniques with a well-known relational database
Deep knowledge of performance tuning techniques both at the OS and at the database level
Exposure to non-relational databases
Good knowledge of a scripting language
Very good understanding of hardware as it relates to database performance
Ability to communicate effectively your thoughts and interact productively with various stakeholders

Desired Skills

Academic understanding of databases and how NSM v/s DSM differ
Exposure to column-oriented databases
Involvement with the open source community
Exposure to data mining and OLAP
A personal technical blog
Interests outside your area of immediate responsibilities such as specialized Linux distro, programming, cep, file systems, hardware, etc...
