Responsibilities

Corporate Services Americas (CSA) owns the RBS Group Policy Standards for Health and Safety, and Environment as part of the RBS Group Policy Framework. This position has a broad mandate accountable to the Health & Safety policy standard and is the day to day Americas owner of the environmental impacts standard. The chosen individual will deliver the company's Health & Safety standard and supports the company's environmental approach / stance, engaging with key senior stakeholders in the Marketing and Communications department as well as Corporate Services globally.

Responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to):
  • Providing strategic direction to ensure that RBS meets its legal health, safety and environmental obligations;
  • To be the senior expert in the Americas Region for RBS Group's Health & Safety policies and processes and Corporate Services' Environmental and Sustainability program;
  • Devising and implementing the regional strategy for both RBS Group's Health & Safety and Corporate Services Environmental Policies & Process including robust implementation of the RBS Group Policy Framework with Divisional Policy Standard Owners (DPSOs) and assurance against standards;
  • Developing and implementing a robust Health and Safety management system based on OHSAS 18001:2007, including policies, standards, procedures and safe systems of work;
  • Developing and implementing the ISO: 14001 Environmental Management System including policies, standards and procedures;
  • Developing a Regional Corporate Services wide Policy and Process operating model, leveraging global /cross divisional efficiencies;
  • Encouraging the development of a positive health, safety, environment and sustainability culture;
  • Leading a team to embed robust Health & Safety and environment policies and processes across the Corporate Services Business, ensuring alignment with all relevant Group and Divisional frameworks and taking into account local and functional specialist requirements

Corporate Services, which is comprised of Business Resilience, Corporate Security, Procurement, and Property is one of the three large- scale functions in Business Services next to Operations and Technology Services. It is a global team with people working in more than 30 countries. In the Americas, there are more than 350 colleagues working together to be the business behind the business for RBS Citizens Financial Group.

Qualifications

Required Skills/Experience:
  • Health and Safety policy and strategy development experience (including sound working knowledge of Health and Safety law);
  • Strong partnership and relationship management skills to ensure delivery of a common and agreed solution
  • Proven experience coordinating and collaborating across a number of divisions/departments
  • Ability to interact confidently at all levels while challenging effectively and constructively
  • Ability to multi-task and manage ever changing and often conflicting priorities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to adapt to a rapidly changing working environment, under pressure with tight deadlines
  • Able to strategize and communicate / sell a vision
  • Organizational awareness and acumen

Preferred Skills/Experience:
  • Experience working at the Senior Level within a Financial Services (preferred) or other global retail organization
  • Experience with LEED practices, policies and procedures preferred

Educational, Certifications and/or Other Professional Credentials:
  • Bachelors Degree is associated field required; Masters preferred
