Job Description

Primary responsibilities include:

Under the direction of the Portfolio Manager, executing long, short and arbitrage trades within the portfolio utilizing a wide array of securities including: bonds, loans, converts, preferreds, options, equities, cds and treasuries.
Developing and maintaining financial models to monitor the creditworthiness of portfolio companies and prospective portfolio companies. These models will focus heavily on cash flows, leverage ratios, and relative value across capital structures.
Using fundamental analytic techniques to evaluate and recommend new investment ideas and weighting changes to existing holdings.
Analyzing default prospects to provide perspective on type of loss given default the issuer's various debt tranches are likely to generate and relates the issuer's debt tranches to comps.
Preparing written reports for Portfolio Manager review which includes investment ideas and reasons supporting ideas based on analysis of relevant factors.

Knowledge/Experience:

Demonstrated technical competency and three years of relevant work experience in financial analysis, preferably with a fundamental credit group.
Ideal candidate will have a solid background in credit analysis, but will be comfortable in recommending long and short equity positions that have outsized return potential.
Experience identifying investment opportunities based on events, such as M&A, recapitalizations or spin-offs a plus.
Facility with Bloomberg and Excel are required.
MBA and/or CFA preferred, but not required.
