Job Description

General Responsibilities:
Vice-President role that reports to the Director of U.S. tax operations for a multinational financial services company and is primarily responsible for providing research, analytical and quantitative support to the corporate tax function, finance units and business operations. Position will include frequent interaction with the Head of Global Tax and direct reports.
Job Description:
  • Researches, analyzes, evaluates and answers technical tax questions

  • Developer and steward of significant tax matters involving compensation/ fringe benefits consulting, R&D tax credits, transaction cost analysis, valuation allowances and accounting method changes

  • Will be responsible for tax matters related to the Company's investments in partnerships, passive foreign investment companies and co-investments, including associated deferred taxes

  • Provides technical support for income tax filing positions, financial statement reporting of taxes, income tax audits, restructurings and acquisition/ joint venture transactions

  • Prepares accurate responses in a timely manner, including memoranda and transaction-related documentation

  • Monitors and analyzes legislative and regulatory developments.  Evaluates impact of tax legislation on the Company, communicates to stakeholders and recommends a course of action. Will also support the Company's advocacy and lobbying efforts

  • Assists in the development of research materials on tax questions/issues and provides explanations, analysis and recommendation to other departments
Mandatory Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting. CPA/MST preferred or tax attorney, LLM preferred

  • 7+ years of tax experience in a Big 4 public accounting or national law firm and/or U.S. multinational corporation with SEC filing requirements (financial services experience a plus)

  • Knowledge of tax research principles, procedures and techniques

  • Demonstrated ability to research tax issues and effectively communicate findings both in writing and via presentations

  • Ability to interpret, analyze and correctly formulate solutions to both routine as wells as highly complex tax situations

  • Excellent analytical/problem solving skills and written & verbal communication skills

  • Strong work-paper and documentation skills

  • Technological proficiency in Excel, Word & PowerPoint
