Director - Client Systems Project Management, Technology Overview In our ever-changing technology and facilities landscape, work closely with the Sr. Executive Director of the Client Services Group to develop overall planning approach, management measures, task completion and follow-up for a wide array of projects both within the Technology Group as part of the core services and those that will have direct business unit impact. Examples include our upcoming moves to two new major downtown facilities and the surrounding technologies and the potential for virtualization and cloud-based computing. Primary Responsibilities: Work with Tech and business unit groups to develop project scope-of-work documents and project plans. Use project management skills and applications to manage project roles, identify resource requirements, meet training needs, define project deliverables, provide customer satisfaction and reporting structures and insure quality of projects. Identify the technical approach to be used on a given project and manage the system development process. Ensures effective communications and relationships between customers and project team members are maintained. Provide team leadership on individual projects. Assigns, schedules, trains, reviews, and monitors project work to ensure that progress is within expected guidelines and is completed on time and within budget. Works with appropriate customers to identify the roles of project team members, project reporting structures and frequency of interaction, etc. that may be needed for a team member to complete project. Define the responsibilities of parties involved in the project including internal and external resources. Identify, track, monitor and communicate project-related issues, scope changes, variances and contingencies that may arise during the implementation of a project. Maintain effective communication and working relationships with customers and project team members. Develop system review schedules, audits and acceptance tests for each phase of a project. Identify potential design alternatives by researching existing technology systems in the marketplace and recommends viable solutions. Prepare and present technical reports and project presentations. Organize and conduct project team meetings. Requirements: Have had four (4) years of full-time experience managing the implementation and support of information technology projects. Considerable ability to interpret technical procedures to customers, public officials and other lay personnel. Considerable ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other Information Technology department employees and customer representatives. Considerable ability to give clear and consistent instructions to team members. Considerable knowledge of and ability to utilize current word processing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail and Internet software. Reasonable knowledge of current hardware and software technologies and uses. Considerable writing proficiency and visual design skills. Considerable oral presentation skills. Considerable ability to develop, lead, motivate and supervise working teams. Considerable problem solving and decision-making skills. Formal training in project management and tools like Clarity and Microsoft Project. Formal Project Management Certification (PMP).
